Happy Tuesday!
Did you catch my FaceBook Live last night? Given that it was a holiday here in Canada, I went with a "Let Me Show You How", rather than my usual Mystery Card Monday. What did I show you? How to make a Northern Lights background using ink, blending brushes and a secret ingredient ... Glycerin!
First let's check out the completed and uncompleted cards we made ....
This was the completed card I had shared on my FaceBook page last week that had SUCH a great reaction from y'all that I decided to show you how. I used the Yuletide Village stamp set and the Christmas Labels sentiment set. The inks I used were Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy. I coloured the buildings with my Blends - Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock. I used markers for the windows and trim - Night of Navy and Lemon Lolly. A little Wink of Stella o the rooftops and some Snowflake embellishments finished it off.
I showed the basics of how to create the card and added in a few more colours for this next one ... Blackberry Bliss and Granny Apple Green ...
I made one more, sponging JUST a background (ie no masking). Once the background was done I stamped the mountains from In the Grove, using Memento Black ink. I'll add a sentiment later to finish it off.
Here are some photos on the steps to mask off the scene in the first two cards ...
These are stamped on post-it notes ...
This is the Glycerin I use. You can get glycerin ad most pharmacies. You may ben able to find it in the baking aisle of your grocery store as well. The glycerin makes it easier to move the ink around when sponging it on your paper.
I like to add ink to my glass mat and put the glycerin right on it. I then pick up with with my blending brush ...
That's it for now. If you would like to join me LIVE for my MCM (Mystery Card Monday) sessions, you can catch me on my FaceBook Page here at 7:00 pm Mountain Time every Monday ... or on my YouTube Channel here at the same time (I stream live to both). Like and Follow my FB Page and/or Subscribe to my YouTube Channel. I'd love to have you - the live community is AMAZING and so much fun!
If you live in Canada and would like to purchase any of the items I used for my cards, just click any of the pictures below and you will be taken to my online store. Thank you! I appreciate your support!
Stay amazing!
Tamara
