Quick Card Layout from a Sketch - MCM June 30, 2025

Happy Canada Day!  It always throws me off when we have a mid-week holiday.  I keep thinking it's Sunday!  The Bertrams went out shopping today.  We returned half the soft furnishings we bought last week and bought more.  These one work and I'm THRILLED!  I guess the Master Bath is now taupe.  Who knew?  Toothbrush holder, cup, soap dispenser, toilet brush, garbage can and a beautiful new makeup chair!  I also got a new computer desk chair for my birthday.  New screen protector for my phone and a new calculator.  It was a productive few hours!!  Now I'm home and doing some "chair work" ... meaning social media and blog posts lol.

Did you catch MCM last night?  I had fun playing with a Card Sketch I found on "just add ink".  Sketches are a great jumping off point.  Here is what I came up with ...

Here is the sketch I started with ...

As I like to do, I start with an easy, basic layout ... per the sketch.  I used the Silly Safari Bundle and Botanical Textures paper ...

The next has very little stamping - just the sentiment.  I loves using the dies cuts that come in the Storybook Moments Designer Paper pack for an easy card.  No die cutting!

Finally, I played with the new Tractor & Co bundle (just released today as an Online Exclusive item!).  I love how it turned out!  The background paper is the Irresistible Designs paper that I inked with Blending Brushes for a emboss resist technique.  Inky fingers happened lol.  The rectangular postage stamp punch is retired, I now know.  I also used some retired scalloped and circle punches for the tire inside pieces.

I love how the layout/sketch was a jumping off point for the cards.  Yes, you can stick to the "formula" exactly, or you can go rogue if the creative moment takes you away.

Want to make your own? Here is the "recipe" of the pieces you need to prep ...

... and here is the Mystery Card Monday (MCM) Facebook Live replay, showing you how to cut/score the papers and put all the pieces together ...

So that's it for this week.  If you would like to join me LIVE for my MCM (Mystery Card Monday) sessions, you can catch me on my FaceBook Page here at 7:00 pm Mountain Time every Monday ... or on my YouTube Channel here at the same time (I stream live to both).  Like and Follow my FB Page and/or Subscribe to my YouTube Channel.  I'd love to have you - the live community is AMAZING and so much fun!

Quick & Cute Card Layout - MCM June 23, 2025

Happy Thursday!  ... at least it is for me! Our renovations should be 95% complete by the end of today.  Final "punch list" items should be completed Monday then we're DONE!  LORD, will I celebrate having my own bathroom and shower again!!!  Sure makes you appreciate the small blessing in your life, I tell ya!!  The house is Grand Central Station today so I'm bugging out and hitting the movies (Mission Impossible - gotta see it on the big screen while I can!).  Before I go, though, I wanted to get my post done for the MCM Layout we did this week on my FB Live.  I CASEd the layout from Stampin' Up!  It was used in their "Creativity Now" event last weekend, which is a demo-only 4 hour event.  I instantly fell in love with the versatility of it!  It works with ANY paper scraps you have on hand (don't we all have BOXES of those??).  Just add a sentiment and IF you want to "step it up" you add layers, textures and/or embellishments.  Easy as 1, 2, 3 ... as shown in my three cards below.

Step 1 - keep it basic and simple - just attach your paper directly to you card base, stamp your sentiment and add a few embellishments.  I used paper from the Kintsugi Inspirations DSP.  The sentiment is from a not-yet-released set "Peace on Earth".  The gems are also not out yet ...Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots.

Step 2 - add a layer of card stock and some more embellishments.  The sentiment is from (not-yet-released) Label Me Grateful and the foliage dies are from the (not-yet-released) Charming Day dies.  The ribbon is from the Misty Moonlight & White 1/4" Starter Ribbon.  I cut the side off the ribbon and pulled off a few strands to make a more delicate ribbon bow.

Step 3:  Take it up one more notch by using a coloured base.  You then stamp your sentiment before running your layer through the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder.  Texture = Fancy lol.

Here is a very simple one using the Woven Textures paper, Pattern of Friendship stamp set and Embossed Brick 3D Embossing Folder, all on Basic Beige card stock.

Sooooo simple .. or not!  Snazz it up or keep it simple.  I LOVE layouts like that!  Want to make your own? Here is the "recipe" of the pieces you need to prep ...
