From Basic to Fancy with Winter Adventures & Whispering Woods - MCM Layout Sept 14, 2026

Happy Sunday (?!?). Wow. I AM behind this week! I try to do my weekly blog posts on Tuesdays. Here it is SUNDAY and I'm just getting to it now! I have my reasons ... namely, Extravaganza! Yes, when I get hyper focused on something nothing else gets my attention. That was Extravaganza prep this week. I was a MACHINE! I've only been home from Europe for 2 weeks but the amount of work I have accomplished in that time is astonishing! Everything has been cut, die cut, measured, packaged, repackaged, labelled, sorted, boxed and is now ready to pt in the car and take to the event that is in 2 weeks. Now I should be able to move on to other things. I still have a LOT of behind the scenes stuff to do in the next 2 weeks, ahead of my NEXT trip to Europe. This one is with Craig and we're off to Italy ... for 3 weeks. Eek! Tick tock - pressure is on! (... but that's ok - I THRIVE under this sort of pressure!)

So here we are, blogging about our cards from Mystery Card Monday 6 days ago. I love this layout! It takes a basic layout and then makes it fancier just by adding a few layers, texture and/or embellishments. Let's take a deeper dive into it ...

These are the 3 cards - basic, a bit fancier, and ALL the things lol ...

Basic. Start with just paper, stamps, ink ... and a few embellishments. I used Shaded Spruce paper and ink, Whispering Woods Designer Paper and Winter Adventures stamp set ...

Step it up by adding a layer of Blueberry Bushel cardstock and a few die cuts from the same bundle. The ink is Blueberry Bushel ...

Next throw ALL the things at it lol. Use a coloured card base (Blueberry Bushel), add some texture (Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder) more detailed die cuts (Winter Adventures) and darker embellishments (Dewdrop Embellishments).

Here is the "medium" level - the second one is made with Mosaic Garden Paper snd coordinating set, Tile Garden. I used Golden Glow and Old Olive papers and inks.

Sunflower Fields 3 Panel Beauty! EASY Card Layout

Happy Wednesday! It is all systems GO around here!! Alicia and I got home from our European Adventure Sunday night. Monday was a holiday so that gave us time to unpack, do laundry and try to get back on this time zone. It was a looooong day of trying to stay awake. I ALMOST made it but did fall asleep around 8 pm watching a show. To be fair I HAD been up almost 24 hours. Yesterday was VERY productive - my favourite kind of day! It's like a Stampin' Up! warehouse in my basement, as all the Extravaganza orders arrived, as did my paper and ribbon share products. I woke this morning at 5:00 am and just HAD to get up so I could finish wrapping ribbon lol - I'm not kidding when I say my paper/ribbon shares are my favourite things to prep! lol

As the family is still sleeping I figured I would tackle my quiet computer work and get this blog post done. It is a card swap I shared last week and everyone LOVED it, so I thought I'd do a quick post of it. The layout actually comes from a Mystery Card Monday Live I did on July 28th. It is a very simple one, using just a few strips of paper. Of course you can have all 3 as designer paper but what really makes this one pop is the centre strip. It is card stock embossed. I just LOVE it. Here it is ...

It used the new Sunflower Fields Designer Paper, the Sunflower 3D Embossing folder and the Radiant Sunflower Bundle. Golden Glow is the accent card stock. Golden Glow 3/8" Bordered Ribbon and Painted Patch Adhesive Backed Dots finish it off. Pow! SO striking!
