Autumn Days Sympathy

Happy Wednesday!  The countdown is on ... 1 1/2 hours until school is officially over.  Sadly Rebecca is home sick today.  Hopefully she'll feel better tomorrow and we can start some summer fun!

Here is the card I promised you for today:
I used the new Island Indigo blue and More Mustard on this one (thank you Colour Coach!).  Very simple.  I used the Autumn Days wheat and the Sincere Salutations Thinking of you.  The new Doily punch was fun to play with ... although it took me a while to figure out why it was so hard to punch ... turned out my palm was moving the "lock" enough to keep it from punching easily.  Once I figured that out things went smoother :)

That's it for today ... next project is to do my first actual, old-fashioned scrapbook.  I've NEVER done one before but want to put one together for my mom's 70th birthday present.  I printed off all the pictures from Disneyland and bought all the scrapbooking "stuff" from that craft store I rarely go to anymore (I HAD to - SU doesn't sell "Disney" brand items!!)  Wish me luck :)

Have a FABULOUSLY fun day - happy summer!!!

In Colour Pennants

Is it over yet?  Is it Wednesday?  No?  1 more day?  1 more day.  Phew - almost there.  Today was a long one.  I helped out at "Games Day" at school.  Who knew 350 kids could wipe me out so badly!  ... then again, waking at 4:00 am and not going back to sleep probably didn't help either *lol*

Well - the end is in sight - tomorrow at this time school will officially be over.  2 months of staying in bed until 8:00 am, no lunches, spray parks, playdates and general frollicking (ok - so I don't know how to spell frollicking ... not sure I remember how to DO frollicking ... but I digress ... as usual ...)

Instead of napping like I wanted to I made cards (insert smile here).  I'll share one today and one tomorrow ... my bed calls ... yes I know it's only 8:05 pm but it calls nevertheless ...

... digressing again ...

Here's the card:
This is my "Thank You" for my club members this month.  Not a "normal" card - I just wanted to show them the new In Colour colours.  The new pennant punch made them quick and easy.  I cracked off 16 in an hour.  I also used the Swirls and Curls Verses hostess set from the mini.  A fun little card :)

Come back tomorrow for a peek at the sympathy card I made for Craig's family.  His cousin Todd passed away a few weeks ago but with the mail strike on the cards haven't been sent yet.  Tomorrow.

Have a fun night :)

Imagine ...

Happy Monday!

Anyone else counting down the minutes left until summer break?  I am!  I figured this year I would have a quiet, slow run up to the end of June - we donèt have soccer this year, gymnastics is over and I started my Teacher Gifts in May.  Hmm.  So what happened ... I dunno ... although the last 2 weeks have been much different than usual.  I had 2 funerals in the span of 8 days, LOTS of birthday parties for the girls (as Summer-Birthday kids try to get their parties in during June before everyone leaves for vacation destination), and I have volunteered at he school today and tomorrow for bowling and games day!  Needless to say napping is not an option :)  Last night I just wanted to drop into bed (thank you evil allergy fairy for plaguing me for the last 5 days!!!!!) but I just HAD to make some Thank You cards for the teachers and secretaries at the school.  I had a really good time making these:
(yes, it is a standard sized card - I just took an odd angle shot of it ...  oh ... and forgive my lack of punctuation ... I seem to have turned on the French language function again ... dont know HOW I do that!!)

I used the retired set First Day from last years mini catalogue and the sentiments is from Word Play.  Obviously I used Black, White and Real Red c.s. and red ink.  The chalkboard letters and numbers are done with the white craft ink.  I popped the A+ up with dimensionals.  I like how it turned out.  As usual, I had no plan going in ...

Hope you have a fun week - thanks for stopping by :)

Teacher Thank You Packs

Happy Wednesday :)

Gotta make this a quick one - got the caffeine shakes goin' on!

This is a super quick, super FAB project to make for teacher / coach / bus driver / hostess gifts.  It only took my about 3 hours to crack off 50 cards (10 (5) packs).  The watercolored background idea came from Trish Miles (fellow demonstrator in our stamping group) and the cards / package idea came from our mighty leader Tamye Dunbar (www.stampinfun.ca).  It is a 100% case so I can't take any credit whatsoever :)

To make these I used the Watercolor Crayons and my Aqua Painter for the background.  I used Black Staz-On for the image (Pocket Silhouettes) and Sentiment (retired Wonderful Words).  I packed them in the SU cello bags and attached them with 2 silver brads.  So quick and easy - they make GREAT gifts.

Right - off to eat and run errands.  Have a fun day :)

Bonjour!

Yes, I seem to be in French mode lately :)  I suppose that's what can happen when you order 40 FRENCH catalogues instead of English ;)

Here is a birthday invitation I made for a friend of mine.  Her daughter's birthday is coming up and they are going to the new Salina Gomez Movie Monte Carlo.  She requested a French / Paris theme.  So ... after calling around I got my hands on the Artistic Etchings stamp set (thanks Tammie!) and within an hour had this to show for my efforts:
I got the inspiration from the Stampin' Connection website (for SU demonstrators) from fellow demonstrator Ruby Johnson.  I used the retired French Script background stamp (very similar to the current En Francais stamp) and embossed it in black.  I used the Eyelet Border punch on the side.  The "Amour" and Tower are also embossed.  The "You're invited is from the retired Hugs & Wishes set - punched out with the Modern Label Punch.  I layered it with black using the Movers & Shapers die.  The Amour and You're Invited are popped up using dimensionals.  I think that's about it!  I printed the party deets on the back in red and stamped the key and crown on the corners to jazz it up a bit.

That's it for today ... on to my next project ...

Have a fun night :)

Father's Day Album

2 posts in 1 day - I'm on a roll Baby!

Here is a quick, easy mini 6x6 album I put together for my Dad for Sunday.  I cased the idea from Tamye Dunbar (http://stampinfun.ca/) who cased it from Kimberly Van Diepen (http://stampinbythesea.com/).

We will be making a "blank" version of this album at my Technique Class on Friday.  Hope you can come :)

Have a fun night!

Birthday Journal

Happy Tuesday!

I'm SLOWLY getting back into the swing of things on the crafting front.  Nothing like time pressure to kick me into gear!

I cracked off this little journal (that a 9 year old and her friends will be making this weekend at her birthday party) in about an hour.  So cute!

I used the 5 3/4" x 8 1/4" inch journals (that are retiring), the red glitter paper (love it!), the Big Shot with the Alphabet letters, Beatiful Wings and Beautiful Butterflies dies, 5/8" Oraganza ribbon and of course lots of Rhinestones.  We will also be making a beaded pen and 2 cards to round off the party.  Hope she likes it :)

I also cased this card from Becky Roberts (http://inkingidaho.blogspot.com/) - I think we'll make this card at my Technique Class on Friday:

The layout is the same as Becky's but I used the new "Just Add Cake" Designer Series Paper that will be available to purchase July 1st.  I also used Poppy Parade, Marina Mist, Early Espresso and So Saffron card stock.  Punches:  1 1/4" square punch, 1 3/4" square punch, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and more Rhinestones (how did we crafts without these before now??!!)  The sentiment is from Word Play - another must-have stamp set.

That's it for now - back to the craft room to work on my photo cubes and mini scrap album for Father's Day.  Perfect weather for crafting today!

Tune in again for my next batch of projects :)

A "Sweet" Pencil

Now how flippin' cute is this???!!!!  I can't take credit for the idea.  I saw it on our Stampin' Up! web site with a similar project made by Niki Toll.  I just HAD to run out and buy all the supplies to make them .. ok - that was a few weeks ago ... but I DID finally get around to making it!
The PLAN was to make 35 of them.  I like to make treats for ALL the school staff every now and then.  This seemed to be the perfect gift.  I went to the dollar store, bought 35 packs of Mentos and 2 bags of jumbo Hershey's Kisses.  I wrapped the Mentos in a piece of Blushing Bride card stock (I never dreamed I would use this color as much as I do.  I actually dislike the color imensely but it has come in REALLY handy for bizarre projects like this ... it's the perfect color for the eraser!)  I glued a Kiss to the end (using the Tombow and some patience) then I ran a piece of More Mustard through my crimper and glued it in place.  The little silver band is a twist tie that came in my Pretzel Bags ... the perfect touch.  Now as cute as this little gift is I'm QUITE certain that life is WAY TOO SHORT to making 35 of them!!!!  Not hard ... just time consuming, fiddly and a little goopy if you don't get the glue just right.  So .. I now have 34 rolls of Mentos that will likely end up on my hips rather than in the class staff room .... I feel 35 Butterfly Post-It-Note Holders coming on ... back to the dollar store!

Have a fun day :)
