Origami Triangle Star Card - Hanukkah Blog Hop
Today's Blog Hop took me WAY outside my comfort zone! I have never created a Hanukkah project before and, quite honestly, didn't know much about it! When Stefanie Pletscher set up this hop as part of her #stampingdiversity mission I was "in"! What a great way to stretch ourselves creatively and learn about other cultures, religions and celebrations at the same time!
If you are interested in learning a little more about Hanukkah her is what Wikipedia has to share:
Armed with my new (still fairly limited) knowledge I headed off to Uncle Google to research some projects. I came across an Origami Star Card. There were a few samples I found but I watched a YouTube video from Deb Valder that helped me come up with this as my project to share with you today:
I LOVE it!! It looks so hard but it's really SO easy! It does take more paper than I usually use but it's SO worth it!
- Whisper White 12" x 12" card stock cut. Cutoff 1 5/8" off one side.
- On the 12" side, take a pencil and mark the 6" point along the top.
- Cut your paper from the 6" tick mark to the bottom left hand point of the paper.
- Cut your paper from the 6" tick mark to the bottom right hand point of the paper.
- You now have a triangle.
- On your scoreboard, score each side of the triangle at 5 1/4" and 7"
- Fold on all score lines.
- Night of Navy Card Stock measuring 4 3/4" x 5 1/2"
- On the 5 1/2" side, make a pencil mark at the 2 3/4" point
- As before, cut from the tick mark to the bottom left corner and then from the tick mark to the bottom right corner. Cut a total of SEVEN of these pieces
- Place one long side of your triangle at the 1 1/2" mark on your trimmer and cut your triangle.
- Flip the new, smaller triangle you just created around and cut off 1/4" piece.
- Repeat this step FIVE more times. You will end up with one LARGE triangle and six cut triangles. These are pieces you use for layering.
- Feels Like Frost Paper measuring 4 1/2" x 5 1/8"
- On the 5 1/2" side, make a pencil mark at the 2 5/8" mark.
- As before, cut from the tick mark to the bottom left hand corner and then from the tick mark to the bottom right corner. Cut three of these if you want to decorate just the front; 6 if you want to decorate the front and the back. I also cut one piece this size in Whisper White to decorate the centre of my card.
- Place one long side of your triangle at the 1 1/4" mark on your trimmer and cut your triangle.
- Flip the new, smaller triangle you just created around and cut off 1/2" piece.
- Repeat this for all three designer paper layer pieces.

DEMONSTRATOR TRAINING!
I'm hoping you've seen this graphic on your social media channels lately. We're SOOOO excited to offer it to Canadian Stampin' Up! Demonstrators!
Stefanie Pletscher (The Crafty Medic) and I have teamed up to bring Canadians some Business Basics Training. It is geared towards those who WANT to start using Social Media ... for WHATEVER reason! Maybe you want to start a page where you share you creations. Maybe you want to try to get a few new customers. Maybe you want to dip your toe in the pool of "doing the business" ... but you just don't know where to start!
- Facebook - what the heck is the difference between a Facebook Page and a Facebook Group? Private, closed, public. Huh? Events, scheduling ... it's so confusing!
- Instagram - what's the deal with hashtags? What are they all about? Do I need them? How do they work?
- Blogging - really? Do people still blog?? WHY? HOW? What's the point?
- Pinterest - that's just a virtual peg board, right? Why would I want one of those?
- YouTube - how the heck do you do a video ... lighting, cameras, uploading ... my head hurts!
This full day training event will touch on all of these areas, as we try to take the mystery and frustration out of it all for you. We will run the event on a closed, private Facebook group with pre-recorded training and live Questions and Answers. We will have useful make-and-take projects and show you how to use those in a meaningful way on social media. Of course there will also be prizes!
Included on the $85 registration fee is the "Snailed It" bundle of products so you will want to hold off on ordering that one!
Registration is open now, until January 4th. Payment is due via etransfer. Interested? Fill out the Registration form here *** Please note that, at the moment, this training is only available to Canadian Demonstrators ***
We hope you will make the investment in yourself and your business (be it a business builder or a hobbyist) and join us for this fun, educational training!
RSVP NOW! ... and have a stampy day xo
