MCM Mon, Oct 21, 2024 - Quick and Easy Layout to help use up those scraps!
Happy Tuesday Friends!
Did you manage to catch my FaceBook Live last night? You missed a GREAT one! I used a layout CASEd from Heidi Collins over on onygostamping.com. It's a PERFECT MCM layout! You use scraps of your designer papers to make a simple pattern focal piece for your card. You can keep is SUPER simple or you can "step it up" with a mat/layer. You can step it up MORE by embossing your to layer. You can step it up one MORE time by embossing your top layer AND the patterned pice you created! The options are ENDLESS! Here are three "stepped up" versions, with a coloured mat/layer behind the top white layer ...
These ones show the "basic" layout (perfect for newer stampers and/or if you are making a LOT of cards (like Christmas!)) and the "stepped up" version, with the mat/layer. That one small addition really elevates the look of the card!
These two show "stepped up" versions. The one on the left has the top, white layer embossed. The one on the right had the vanilla AND the patterned pieces embossed. Fancy! lol
I used strips that were 1/2" x 3" long. They don't all have to me uniform widths - make some thinner and some wider, for a different look. The strips also don't have to all be patterned papers! You can use solid card stock strips. You can also stamp or emboss those strips! Truly SO many options. Add ribbons and/or embellishments ... the sky is the limit! I LOVE how these all turned out. Truly addictive. Give them a try!
Want to make your own version(s) of this layout? Here is the "recipe" of the pieces you need to prep ...
... and here is the Mystery Card Monday (MCM) Facebook Live replay, showing you how to cut the papers and put all the pieces together ...
That's it for this week.
