Layering Leaves Simplicity - Kylie's Trip Achievers Blog Hop

Happy Blog Hop Day!  Every month, my friends from around the globe bring you projects made with current Stampin' Up! products.  We hope to excite and inspire you with our creations!

My project this month is one we made a my Layering Leaves class.  I just LOVE it - check it out!

The colour combination of Pretty Peacock and Coastal Cabana makes me VERY happy!

For my card I used the new Layering Leaves stamp set, combined with the Bough Punch that carried over from the last catalogue.  Rachel Tessman inspired the stamp set for her Million Sales Achiever perk.  GENIUS ... and I am now USING the punch that I bought but rarely used!

For this card:

Standard Card Base - Pretty Peacock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Coastal Cabana Layer - 3 3/4" x 5"

Pretty Peacock top layer - 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" - use our Decorative Circle punch to punch a hole in the right hand side

Stamp (what I call) the "coffee bean" image on Coastal Cabana scraps and punch out with the punch.

On the top Pretty Peacock layer, stamp various leaf images all over the card (in Pretty Peacock ink) and fill in any spaces with the "splatter" image.

Stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock on the Coastal Cabana layer, through the hole.

Using your White and Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencils, colour your leaves.  The images REALLY pop!

Attach your top Pretty Peacock layer to your Coastal Cabana layer, using Stampin' Seal or liquid glue.

Attach the Coastal Cabana layer to the card base using dimensionals.

Attach your leaves using liquid glue and mini dimensionals,

Add rhinestones and white bakers twine and done!

It's a FUN card that really comes together quickly. I hope you like it!

Hello, Irresistible Embossing Fun - Kylie's Trip Achievers Blog Hop

Happy Blog Hop Day!

Each month, my friends from around the globe and I bring you projects made with current Stampin' Up! products.  We how to excite and inspire you with our creations.

This month most of my friends involved in this blog hop are currently ON the Incentive Trip in Norway!  SO exciting!  I was sad I couldn't attend but my youngest is graduating this weekend so, of course, that is WAY more exciting than the trip so here I stay.  Added bonus, I get to play with all my new Stampin' Up! toys.  Can't take THOSE on a trip! lol.

Today I'm sharing with you projects I made using the "Hello, Irresistible" Bundle of products.  These products can't be found in any of our catalogues - they are one the new "Online Exclusives".  That means you can ORDER them through a demonstrator OR online, but you will only SEE them online (not in a publication).  The Hello, Irresistible bundle is a FANTASTIC bundle that I have used and loved much more than I thought I would!  The chunky font and floral images make gorgeous cards EASY!  I used our embossing powders to get totally different looks ...

This card used Blackberry Bliss and Crushed Curry papers, with Gold Embossing Powder:

This card used Boho Blue with Smoky Slate papers and Silver Embossing Powder:

This one used Crumb Cake and Copper Clay. with Copper Embossing Powder:

This one is Pretty Peacock and Basic White with White Embossing Powder:

The last one (and my favourite!) is Pebbled Path and Basic Black paper with Black Embossing Powder:

So fun!  I purposely made all of the cards using the same layout to showcase the variety of looks that can be achieved simply by changing the card stock and embossing powders.

Which is YOUR favourite?

Quick dimensions:
Basic Card Bases - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Middle Layers - 3 3/4" x 5"
Top Layers - 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Swipe the top layers with your Embossing Buddy to remove static and/or oils from the paper.
Stamp your images in Versamark Ink
Cover the images with Embossing Powder
Heat set
Add embellishments of your choice
Boom - done!

Isn't heat embossing a Fan Favourite?  It's often the one technique that makes EVERY new stamper go "WOW!" ... and gets them hooked on stamping.  That's what did it for me, anyway!

So there you have it - some really quick cards with a very easy technique.  I hope you like them!

Lighting the Way - Kylie's Trip Achievers Blog Hop

Happy Blog Hop Day!

Each month, top Demonstrators from around the globe bring you projects made using Stampin' Up! products.  We hope to inspire you with our creations.  Don't be shy to leave a comment as you hop along!

Earlier this week I promised to share this GORGEOUS card made using the Lighting the Way Bundle.  I can't TELL you how much I love this bundle!  It is SO easy to work with!  Check this out ...

Isn't it FUN???   This little firefly is the star of the show.  I shall call him Edward .. and Edward makes me smile :)

So how do you make this card?

Basic White Card Base - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Basic Black Card Stock layer - 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"

Basic White Card Stock layer - 3" x 4 1/4"

Use a pencil and ruler to make a mark 1" down from the top left hand side of your Basic White layer.

On the right hand side of your Basic White layer, make a mark 2" down from the top.

Use your paper trimmer to cut from the left hand mark to the right hand mark.

Use your paper trimmer to cut from the left hand mark to the bottom right hand CORNER.

Essentially you have now cut a wedge out of your Basic White layer.  Discard the middle wedge that you cut out (or save it for scrap or for another project).

Fine Shimmer Gold layer (this is retiring so make sure you scoop some before May 2! .. and it's on sale!) 3" x 3 1/2"

(2) Basic Black strips - 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Scraps of Basic Black and Fine Shimmer Gold for your Firefly.  Cut out the pieces and attach using glue dots.

Basic White layer (for sentiment) - 1/2" x 3"

Basic Black layer (to mat sentiment) - 3/4" x 3 1/4"

Assembly is pretty straight forward?

Use Basic Gray or Memento Black ink to stamp the "swirls" on your Basic White layers.

Attach the black strips to the long, diagonal edges of your Basic White layers.

Attach the Fine Shimmer layer to the Basic Black layer.

Attach the Basic White layers to the Basic Black layer.

Pop the Basic Black layer up on dimensionals and attach to the card base.

Stamp your sentiment (in black or gray), attach to the black layer and pop up on dimensionals to attach to the card base.

Make your firefly and use mini dimensionals to attach to the card base.

Finish off with black and gold embellishments.

A real WOW! project that is so easy to make!

I hope you like it and give it a try!  If you are in Canada, I am holding a Virtual Class using this bundle on May 5th at 6:30 pm MT.  The cost is $85 porch pickup (Edmonton) or $95 long distance.  You get the bundle, the pieces to make four cards, the live Zoom class and access to the replay.  If you'd like to take part, get in touch by noon next Monday, April 24th so product can arrive in time.  I'd love to have you!

Thanks for popping in!  Now hop along to see what my friends have created for you!  Have a fabulous week :)
